The network of sanitary units developed mainly in the urban environment during last year, with 91.3% of the total number of hospitals and assimilated units according to the publication’ The activity of sanitary units’ made by the National Institute for Statistics (INS).
‘The distribution of the network of sanitary units on residence environment shows the fact that the sanitary network developed, mainly, in the urban environment where there are 91.3% of the total number of hospitals and assimilated units and 93.2% of the total of ambulatories integrated to hospitals and specialty ambulatories, 97.8% of the total of medical dispensaries, 98.1% of the total of policlinics, 98.2% of the specialty medical centres, 97.4% of the ambulance units, patients transport and SMURD as well as the mental health centres, blood transfusion centres and TBC centres’ the quoted document says.
Most of surgeries functioned in the urban environment: 59.7% of the total of independent surgeries of GPs, 85.5% of the independent dentistries, 86.8% of the independent surgeries of GPs, 96.2% of the independent specialty surgeries, 94.9% of other types of surgeries ( work health, factory surgeries, medical expertise,work capacity recovery)99.1% of the school surgeries, 99.6% of the school dentistries, as well as the student surgeries.
In the urban environment functioned 66.9% of the pharmacies, 95.8% of the dental technology laboratories, 95.9% of medical labs, as well as 7 out of the 8 spas.
The system of social care offered in 2018 services of medical care in 215 residential units for elderly (60.9% of the units being in the urban environment), 536 residential centres destined to people with disabilities (68.8% in the urban environment) and in 106 of day centres, similarly, destined to the people with disabilities (104 of them situated in the urban environment).
As regards the rural environment, this is lacking in coverage of medical units so that it is important that the GP surgeries network should be well covered, explains the authors of the document.
In the rural environment, primary medical assistance was ensured by 40.3% of the independent surgeries for GPs. At the same time, 60 hospitals and other medical units assimilated to hospitals in the structure where 24 hospital ambulatories could be found, a number of 8 ambulatories of specialty, 4 centres for diagnosis and treatment, one of the two neuro-psychiatry centres offered medical assistance of specialty in the rural environment.
The network of independent GPs surgeries included in 2018 most surgeries in the North-East region (1614 surgeries), Bucuresti-Ilfov (1553 surgeries) and South-Muntenia (1486 surgeries) and the fewest in the region South-East (1160- surgeries) and West (1150 surgeries).
According to the counties, most GP surgeries functioned in Timis (480 surgeries), Iasi (473 surgeries) and Dolj (460 surgeries) and the fewest in Covasna and Giurgiu (each with 98 surgeries).
