Romania - European auto market with highest growth pace in August
The registrations of new cars in Romania increased by 25.5% in August 2013 from August 2012, which was the highest growth pace recorded among the European countries, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association /ACEA/ has announced.
According to the ACEA, a number of 6,332 cars were registered in Romania last month, by 25.5% more than in August 2012. On the other hand, in the first eight months of this year, the auto market in Romania saw an annual decrease by 17.6%, with 36,595 registered cars.
As to the European Union, car registrations went down by 5% in August, thus having ended a mild re-launch that started in April and continued throughout July. Last month, as many as 1.038 million cars were registered in the European Union.
Among the car makes, Dacia ranks first in terms of the increase in sales in the first eight months, with an advance of 18.7%. A number of 189,909 Dacia cars were sold in the European Union from January to August 2013.
According to statistics with the Association of Car Makers and Importers /APIA/, the sales of new cars and commercial vehicles on the Romanian market stood at 49,325 units in the first eight months of 2013, down by 13.2% from the same period of 2012. In terms of cars, the decrease was 11.4% to 41,493 units.
