Logan, Duster and Sandero were situated in May at the top of the best sold 25 cars in Russia, according to the data published on Monday by the Association of European Business (AEB) but the deliveries of cars and commercial vehicles recorded a drop of 38% says Bloomberg.

Last month, the first place in the top of the best sold cars in Russia was occupied by Solaris from Hyundai ( with 10,654 units) followed by Lada Granta (with 8,471 units) made by AvtoVAZ. The sales of cars and commercial vehicles dropped in May with 38% on the Russian market, the fifth month of decline, as a result of the issues the economy is facing as well as the depreciation of the ruble, announced the Association of European Business. In January, there was a coming back of 42%. Last month, there were sold in Russia 125,801 cars and light commercial vehicles against 201,487 in May 2014.

The auto sales could be diminished this year by 24% at 1.89 million units, after a decline of 10% in 2014, according to the AEB estimates.

The decline of the economy and the depreciation of the ruble determined the auto producers to reduce the production, to offer reductions or to drop the prices.

Between January – May 2015, the cars sales dropped by 37.7% at 641.933 units.

In the first months of this year the first place of the best sold cars in Russia was occupied by Lada Granta (with 49.542 units) made by AvtoVAZ followed by Solaris from Hyundai (44,455 units). The fifth and the seventh place are Duster and Logan with 16,860 units and 16,493 units respectively, while 16 is occupied by Sandero with 11,184 units. According to an agreement of last year, the alliance Renault –Nissan will take over the control of the Auto Russian producer AvtoVAZ in 2014. Together, Renault, Nissan and AvtoVAZ controls 30% of the auto market of Russia, the objective estimated by the general director Carlos Ghosn being to reach a market share of 40% in 2016.

Relaunced in 2004 with Logan, Dacia became an important player on the European auto market.
