Infrastructure : Japanese Ambassador to Romania: We hope that Romania's infrastructure improves to increase investments

With roughly 150 Japanese companies doing business in Romania, Nippon investments in Romania could increase, provided that the local infrastructure were better, Japanese Ambassador to Romania Keiji Yamamoto said on Thursday.

We hope that Romania's infrastructure improves, so that we are able to increase investments. We will also succeed in increasing technology-led performance in Romania, but maybe we will also be able to heighten investments, mentioned the Ambassador.

He pointed out that around 150 Japanese companies are currently operating in Romania.

We have production capacities here, 46 plants that employ some 30,000 Romanians. Many of these companies are developing. In the context of increased competition, many Japanese companies want to enter the Romanian market, added Keiji Yamamoto.

According to him, Romania - Japan cooperation dates more than 50 years back, and is based on appreciation and mutual support.

Keiji Yamamoto said that, over the years, the Japanese Embassy has supported the Romanian industry and the country's development.

We know that Romania has been through the recession which affected the whole of Europe, and struggled with the downturn for seven years, but it seems that now you have the highest GDP growth in the European Union. This is a wonderful step towards the future, said the Japanese Ambassador to Romania.
