Infrastructure : Turkish Airlines celebrates 26 years of operation at Otopeni Airport

Turkish Airlines is celebrating 26 years of operation at Henri Coanda International Airport and has a cargo market share of 54% which is exoected to grow, said Valentin Iordache, the spokesman for Bucharest National Airport Company.

With operations in three cities -Bucharest, Cluj Napoca and Constanta, Turkish Airlines has strengthened its position in Romania. Today, there are three daily flights from Bucharest to Istanbul, one of them with aircraft of big dimensions. It is the only company that operates with this type of planes regular flights on short distances.

As of June 24, 2019, Turkish Airlines started operating daily flights from Cluj Napoca and four times a week there are flights to Istanbul from Constanta.

The market share of the company for cargo segment grew in Romania from 19% to 54% in the last three years and according to IATA statistics Turkish Airlines is market leader for air transport of goods from Romania. 

Set up in 1933, with a fleet of five planes, Turkish Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, has now 336 airplanes (passenger and goods transport) which fly to 311 destinations – 261 international flights to 124 countries and 50 domestic flights.
