Infrastructure: Rotterdam Harbour interested in investing in Constanta Port South

Rotterdam Harbour authorities showed their interest in participating in the development of Constanta Port as strategic partner, the Transport Ministry announced in a press release, mentioning that the investment in the Southern part of Constanta Port may be made by a public-private partnership. Tlaks have been carried out lately about Constanta Port shares, Mayor Radu Mazare requesting the government to grant higher participating for the local authority.

 

Dan Sova, the minister of transports met the foreign trade minister of the Netherlands, Mrs Lilianne Ploumen, according to a press release.“The two officials talked about the cooperation beween the Maritime Port Administration and Rotterdam Harbour Authorities. The Dutch reiterated their interest in participating as strategic partners in the development of Constant Port because of its potential”, the press release shows.

 

Mayor Radu Mazare has recently requested the government to grant an additional package of shares owned by the state with the Maritime Port Administration National Company, representing at least 13% of the company social capital.

 

Mazare said in March that according to the talks he had with the premier, the local authorities will receive 15% of shares the state holds with Constanta Port Administration while another 15% will be listed on the Stock Exchange.

 

At present the state owns 60% of shares, the Property Fund has 20% and Constanta Local Municipal Council has 20%.
