Infrastructure: Romania lost close to EUR 1 bln worth of EU funds on transport under 2007-2013 budget
Romania lost the most European funds during 2007-2013 period in the Operational Sectorial Transport Program, business-review.eu informs. The public authorities were not able to attract EUR 973.1 million just in this segment, according to official data.
On the second place is the Environment Operational Sectorial program with EUR 946.6 million and on the third place is the Operational Sectorial Human Resources Development program (POSDRU) with around EUR 852.1 million. They were followed by the Regional Operational program, with EUR 593.1 million and Operational Program of Administrative Capacity Development.
Overall, Romania lost EUR 3.2 billion from the allocated budget for the scheduled period 2007-2013.
The authorities increased the absorption level of European funds on 2007-2013 period by reducing the European funds allocation by EUR 276 million to EUR 18.78 billion.
Thus, the current absorption of European funds for 2007-2013 period increased in January, compared with November 2016, when the last data were published, by 1.2 percentage points to 82.93 percent, although the value of the income statements transmitted to European Commission stayed at the same level of EUR 15.57 billion.
The effective absorption went up by 1.15 percentage points to EUR 14.8 billion, reaching at the end of January 79.23 percent.
