Infrastructure: In Q1, 365,000 passengers travelled by place from Timisoara International Airport
There were 364,982 passengers who travelled by place from Timisoara in the first three months of the year, on the rise by 2.6% compared to the same period of 2017, according to a press release of Timisoara International Airport.
4,284 airplanes landed at or tool off from the airport, the equivalent of flight increase of 2.6% compared to 2017.
According to official data, most passengers travelled to or from Bucharest, London, Munich and Bergamo.
There was an increase of 53.7% increase in the air traffic of goods in the first quarter, when 1,464 tons were transported.
When the summer season begins the number of flights grew for five destinations: Memmingen (from 2 to 3 flights/week), Valencia (from one to two flights/week), Tel Aviv (from two to three flights/week), Dortmund (from 2 to 3 flights/week) and Bologna (from 2 to 3/week).
At the same time, air companies decided not to include in the summer program destinations of Berlin, Dusseldorf-Weeze and Endhoven, leaving from Timisoara.
TAROM air company introduced the destinations of Iasi (4 flights/week) and Cluj (3 flights/week) besides 26 flights existing to and from Bucharest. Moreover, as of June, Blue Air company will introduce 3 flights/week to Constanta.
The summer season begins on May 25, with the first charter flights. Flights to Turkey (Antalya with 6 flights/week) and Greek islands (Heraklion, Crete - 2 weekly flights and Zakynthos, one flight/week) are also scheduled this summer.
