Infrastructure : CIAS: the number of civil aviation occurences reported in Romania increased last year by 13%
In Romania, there recorded last year 1,531 occurences of civil aviation with 13.1% more than the previous year, after a drop in 2015 advance appeared especially in the area of cargo, while the number of serious occurences increased nine times, according to the annual report published b the Centre for Investigation and Analysis for the Safety of Civil Aviation (CIAS) institution under the subordination of the ministry of transport, responsible for investigations regarding the safety of the civil aviation.
In 2015 were recorded 1,354 occurences of reported civil aviation, out of which 888 occurences in operations of cargo.
Last year, the number of occurences of cargo increased by 15% up to 1,021 out of which 7 serious occurences, 5 being on the territory of Romania.
‘In 2016 were reported 1,021 occurences of civil aviation produced in operations of cargo. From the point of view of the seriousness there were recorded 940 occurences without effect on the safety. 58 occurences, a major one, 8 significant ones, 7 serious incidents and 7 occurences which could be reported with no intention of flight’ the report shows.
As a total, as compared to 2015, there was an increase of nine times of the number of serious occurences, in 2016 being recorded nine such occurences, against one in the previous year. Seven out of these were produced on the territory of Romania out of which five in operations of cargo.
A serious occurrence took place on 7 January 2016 when a aircraft Boeing 737-400-430 left the runway by going over the threshold, on the international airport Avram Iancu Cluj.
‘The cause for the serious occurrence was a prolonged flare flight, touched down the runway and began to reduce speed on distance of approximately 2300 ft (approximately 700 m) from the threshold of the runway 25’ the report shows.
Another serious occurrence was produced on 29 December 2016 when an aircraft Boeing 737-400 was involved. While the aircraft was en-route, there was warning in the cabin for altitude and the oxygen masks dropped automatically.
‘The crew applied the procedure of Emergency Descent, used the oxygen masks and took the decision to turn back on the international airport ‘Henri Coanda’ Bucuresti-Otopeni. The aircraft landed safely, with no casualties. The investigation for the determination of the causes of the serious occurrence is underway’ the report mentions.
On 13 October 2016 on the airport Henry Coanda during the process of acceleration for take off, the crew of ATR2-500 felt strong vibrations, the pilot took the decision to stop the take off and go back to parking position for supplementary investigation.
On the same airport Henri Coanda on 14 October 2016 an aircraft SAAB 340A which had a cargo flight got on runway 3 to go to parking position.
‘During the taxing period, when turning with 90 degrees to the left, the operating being performed on the margin of the runway, the aircraft hit one of the lighting poles. The investigation for the determination of the causes for the production of this incident is underway’ the report says.
