Infrastructure: Bucharest authorities will support Chisinau in building and rebuilding bridges over Prut River
Romania considers the project to rebuild the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau railway using the standard European gauge to be a priority, the same as the project for upgrading the cross border Iasi-Ungheni road segment, part of the TEN-T network, and it will also help Chisinau with the building, consolidation works and rebuilding of the bridges over the Prut River, the Romanian Minister of Transport, Ramona Manuescu said in Chisinau.
According to a press release of the Ministry, the Romanian head of Transport, Ramona Manescu, on Monday, December 16, had a meeting in Chisinau with the Moldovan Prime Minister, Iurie Leanca, and also with her counterpart, Vasile Botnari. The agenda of the talks included such strategic priority projects targeting the development of bilateral cooperation in the railway, road, air and naval transportation fields.
On this occasion, the Romanian Minister of Transport emphasized the importance of the joint project of a strategic importance that refers to the building by the Republic of Moldova, helped by Romania, of the European road, as well as the need to deepen bilateral dialogue between Romania and Moldova in the field of transportation, from the perspective of the legal framework that has to be improved and also from the perspective of the infrastructure projects that need to materialise, in the context of Chisinau's future connection to the European transport network (TEN-T).
Moreover, the Ministry of Transport is interested in intensifying efforts in the next interval in offering technical assistance to the Republic of Moldova, to have its national legislation harmonised with the European one, as well as in granting the necessary support to Moldova to get interconnected with the trans-European transport networks, stated Ramona Manescu.
