Healthcare:Top of most expensive pharmacies and price differences for medicines
There are about 7,000 pharmacies in Romania. Hence the big competition among retailers in the pharmaceutical field. An online opinion poll shows that the price difference among pharmacies is up to 60% in some cases. The top of the most expensive pharmacies includes Sensiblu with prices even 60% higher. For instance a box of Ibuprofen, 600 mg, is 18 lei, while the same product is sold at 6.9 and 7.56 lei in Catena, Help Net or Dona drug stores. Ropharma ranks second; there a box of Nurofen Raceala si Gripa, 200 mg costs 18.2 lei, while other drug stores sell it for 12.9 and 17 lei. Catena is the cheapest pharmacy in Romania. Here a box of Dulcolax, 5mg costs 10.5 lei while at Sensiblu the price is 50% higher (14.99 lei). The price of antibiotics is the same in all pharmacies.
