Cars: Romania, highest increase of new car registrations in EU

Romania registered, in the first half of the year the highest increase of new car registrations in EU - +19.2% against the first 6 months of 2018, ACAROM data show.

New car registrations in EU dropped by 7.8% in June, against June 2018, reaching 1,446,183 units. In the first 6 months of 2019, 8,183,562 new cars were registered in EU , which means a 3.1% drop compared to the same period of 2018.

Over January-June 2019, increases of new car registrations were recorded in Germany (+0.5%), while other countries registered drops : France (-1.8%0, Spain (-5.7%), Italy (-3.5%) and Great Britain (-3.4%).

Romania ranks 16th in Eu with a volume of 71,620 new cars registered and recorded the highest number of new cars registered in EU – 19.2% compared to the same period of 2018.

As for car manufacturers , most cars registered in Europe are represented by VW group with 2,049,290 units, on the drop by 4.1%, followed by PSA group with 1,382,161 units, on the drop by 1.2% and Renault group with 911,420 units, on the drop by 1.1% ( of which Dacia with 316,424 units, and an increase of 10.1% against the same period of 2018). 

Ford cars represented 513,338 new units registered over January-June 2019, on the drop by 7.8% against 2018.
