Cars: Green car registrations go up by almost 85%, during first two months of 2022

The number of new car registrations, in Romania, has gone up by almost 40% during the first two months of the year, when comparing with the same period of 2021, the margin of "electrified" automobiles having registered a leap of 84.9%, achieving a market share of 17.4% to a volume of 8,616 units, according to the data published by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA) on Friday.

The ranking by brands is led, after two months, by Dacia - with 5,025 new units registered, followed by Hyundai (1,804), Ford (1,542), Volkswagen (1,417), Renault (1,246), Toyota (1,225), Mercedes Benz (1,198), Skoda (1,196), Fiat (677) and Peugeot (645)

Based on the fuel type of registered automobiles, during the interval of January-February 2022, gasoline engines register an increase of 54.5%, as opposed to the similar period of 2021, to a share of 67.3%, while automobiles equipped with diesel engines have registered a drop of 18.2% and hold a share of 15.3% of the total.

Reported to the reference period, the first five most sold, full electric automobiles are: Dacia Spring - 315 units (model launched in 2021), Tesla Model 3 (with 96 units, increase of over 23 times), Hyundai Kona (88 units, +450%), Volkswagen ID3 (65 units, +140.7%), and Volkswagen e-UP (54 units, -6.9%).

On the plug-in automobile segment, the hierarchy is led by Ford Kuga, with 58 units (+544.4%), followed by Hyundai Tucson and Mercedes Benz GLE (47 units each, +235.7%), Mercedes Benz GLC (41 units, +173.3%), and Volvo XC60 (32 units, +146.2%).

Furthermore, hybrid automobiles, without recharging from external sources, are led by Toyota C-HR with 259 units (-22.5% from 2021), then Toyota Corolla (224 units, -26.3%) and Toyota RAV2 (183 units, -1.1%).
