Cars: Ecological car sales went up în Romania by 65% in Q1
About 2,500 new electric and hybrid cars were sold in Romania in the first three months of the ongoing year, on the rise by 65% compared to the same period of 2020, according to APIA data.
The market analysis shows that the share of new electric and full hybrid cars in the local automobile market reached 12.2% over January-March 2021, from 5.5% in the first quarter of 2020.
Compared to data recorded at the end of March 2020, in the first three months of 2021, most new purchases were in the full hybrid category – 1,722 units, on the rise by 58.6%.
Sales of plug-in hybrid cars grew by 132.3%, to 360 units, while fully electric models had an increase of 52.2%, to 414 cars.
APIA statistic shows that, Volkswagen is leader in the top of most sold 100% electric cars with 123 units, followed by Peugeot with 47 units, BMW (40), Renault (34), Hyundai (27), Mini (24), Nissan (20), Mazda (18), Opel (14) and Skoda (13).
At the same time, most full hybrid cars sold in Romania were Toyota, with 1,422 units, Hyundai (178), Ford (44), Lexus (36), Honda (15), Renault (14), Subaru (9), Kia and Suzuki (2 each).
According to the source, Volvo ranked first in the top of plug-in hybrid car sales in quarter 1, 2021, with 73 units sold. It was followed by Mercedes Benz (70), BMW (59), Renault (47), Mitsubishi (23), Ford (22), Porsche (13), Skoda (8), Mini and Volkswagen (7 units each).
APIA statistics show that 827 new ecological cars were sold by March 2021, on the rise by 0.60% against February 2021, while the share of this type of cars in the market dropped to 10.7% from 12%.
