Cars: Car sales in Romania advanced 15.9 percent year-on-year in January and February
Car sales in Romania advanced 15.9 percent year-on-year in January and February, to 12,654 units; sales of passenger cars grew 14.6 percent, according to data released on Thursday by the Association of Automobile Producers and Importers (APIA).
The domestic production of motor vehicles in February amounted to 35,222 units, down 5.8 percent year-on-year. The total figure for January and February was 69,056 units, 1.5 below the corresponding production in 2014. Dacia contributed to this figure by 58,297 cars and Ford by 10,759.
By models, Dacia's Duster leads with 27,354 units (up 23.7 percent compared to the first two months of 2014); following are Dacia Logan (14,567), Ford B-MAX (10,759), Dacia Sandero (9,641) and Dacia Logan MCV (6,725).
Car exports totaled 63,409 units in January and February, up 3.5 percent year-on-year. The best-selling models abroad were Dacia Duster (26,522), Dacia Logan (11,812) and Ford B-MAX (10,578). APIA points out that nearly 92 percent of the domestic car production was exported, up from 87 percent over the similar period of 2014.
