Arrivals in accommodation units increase by 54.2% in April
- Compared to April 2021, in April 2022, the arrivals in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation increased by 54.2%, while the overnight stays increased by 58.7%.
- Compared to April 2021, in April 2022 customs registered an increase in the arrivals 1) of foreign visitors of 188.7% and an increase of 136.9% in the departures1) abroad of the Romanian visitors.
Accommodation units' tourist arrivals increased by 54.2% in April compared to the same period last year, while overnight stays were more by 58.7%, according to data released on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
In April 2022, compared to April 2021, at the border points, the arrivals of foreign visitors increased by 188.7%, and the departures abroad of Romanian visitors by 136.9%.
The arrivals registered in the tourist reception structures in April 2022 amounted to 692,200 people and out of the total number of arrivals those of the Romanian tourists represented 85%, and the arrivals of foreign tourists 15%.
The overnight stays recorded in the tourist accommodation units in April 2022 amounted to 1.352 million, up by 58.7% compared to those in April 2021. The overnight stays of the Romanian tourists in the tourist accommodation units represented 82,8%, while the overnight stays of the foreign tourists registered a percentage of 17,2%.
The index of net use of tourist accommodation in April 2022 was 23% for total tourist accommodation structures, up by 7.1 percentage points compared to April 2021.
The arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at the border checkpoints, in April 2022 totalled 955,000 people, up by 188.7% compared to April 2021.
In the first four months of the year, the arrivals registered in the tourist accommodation units amounted to 2.488 million people, up by 33.8% compared to the period 1 January - 30 April 2021.
The arrivals of Romanian tourists in the tourist accommodation units represented 86.5%, while the arrivals of foreign tourists registered a percentage of 13.5%.
Overnight stays in tourist accommodation structures between January and April amounted to 4.761 million, up by 37.6% compared to the same period last year.
Out of the total number of overnight stays, during the mentioned period, the overnight stays of the Romanian tourists in the tourist reception structures with accommodation functions represented 84,1%, while the overnight stays of the foreign tourists registered a percentage of 15,9%.
By country, most of the arrivals of foreign tourists accommodated in tourist accommodation units in the first four months came from: Germany (34,700 persons), Israel (29,100 persons) and Italy (28,600 people).
The arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at the border points, were between January 1 and April 30, 2022, of 3.271 million people, up by 156.5% compared to the period January 1 to April 30, 2021.
Out of the total number of arrivals, between January 1st and April 30th, 2022, the arrivals of Romanian tourists in apartments and rooms for rent represented 93.2%, and the arrivals of foreign tourists 6.8%.
