Agriculture : Topoloveni plum jam, at the international exhibition World Food Moscow
Romania has been represented at the international exhibition World Food Moscow by the Topoloveni plum jam, the only product benefiting from European funds for its promotion on non-EU markets, Romanian producer, Sonimpex Topoloveni, informed on Monday.
'The Topoloveni plum jam has successfully participated in the international exhibition World Food Moscow, hosted by the capital city of the Russian Federation. The plum jam produced by Sonimpex Topoloveni has thus represented Romania in one of the biggest events in the world devoted to food industry, as part of the programme 'Eureka: Discover Europe's Treasures!'. The Topoloveni plum jam is the only product benefiting from European funds for its promotion on non-EU markets, as it is the only product recognized by the EU for quality, traditional feature and uniqueness, through the granting of the Protected Geographical Indication,' reads a company's release.
The producer's CEO Bibiana Stanciulov said that the Topoloveni plum jam is obtained according to a recipe from 1914.
'We have internationalized the product by using the name of 'magiun' [plum jam] in any language,' said Bibiana Stanciulov.
The Romanian producer has accessed two EU-funded promotion programmes, each with duration of three years. Thus, between 2013 and 2016, the Topoloveni plum jam will be promoted in Russia, Switzerland, Norway, Middle East and North America.
The Topoloveni plum jam is a Romanian product 100% natural, with no sugar added, without preservatives and gluten free. The producer is Supplier to the Royal House of Romania, multiple winner of 'Superior Taste Award' from the Taste and Quality Institute in Brussels and Ambassador of the 'Romanian Traditional Taste.'
The Topoloveni plum jam can be consumed from the age of 6 months - when diversifying the diet starts. It can be consumed also by diabetics with the treating doctor's approval, according to a study by the N.C. Paulescu National Institute of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases, the said release underscores.
