Agriculture: The national production of wine this year will be about 4 million hectolitres by 11% more than last year
The national production of wine this year will be about 4 million hectolitres with almost 11% more than last year, the biggest growth of the production of 20% being recorded in the area of Moldova according to a press release of the National Association of Vineyard and Wine.
Last year there were obtained 3.6 million hectolitres dropping against the year of 2014 when they produced 3.7 million hectolitres and against 2013 when the production recorded was 5.1 million hectolitres.
From the quality point of view, the sugar accumulation in the grapes is good for quality wine this year, the producers mention.
According to them, the biggest growth of production was recorded in the Vrancea area where they produce with 20%more this year against the previous year. Similarly, the vineyards in Iasi, Husi and Cotnari will have a bigger production by 15-20%. At the same time in Banat and Transilvania they will obtain up to 10% more.
Drops are recorded in Dobrogea (30%) and Oltenia (20%) while the production in Dealu Mare is comparatively equal with that of last year, but with big variations between producers, some recording losses of 30% against 2015.
The producers remind the drought which characterised the south of the country this year – Oltenia and Dobrogea as well as the fact the vineyards in Dealu Mare suffered from hail.
At European level, at the beginning of the summer, France announced the diminution of the production of grapes, and Spain announced growth, which will generate at world lelve a selling price lower for unbottled wine, the specialists consider.
In Romania, the trading price for noble grape varieties for the production of wine varies between 1leu/kg and 1.5leu/kg depending of the area, colour and quality. The data of the wine producers show that last year Romania exported wine worth 22.3 million euro and imported worth 42.4 million euro.
The main export market was the UK where they sold a quantity of 2.930 tons worth 4.9 million euro, followed by China with 1,412 tons worth 3.6 million euro.
Romania imported especially Spanish wine, a quantity of 28,555 tons worth 10.2million lei as well as from the Republic of Moldova – 7.947 tons worth 5.4 million euro.
