Romania ended the competition ranking among the top three wine-producing countries in the world, after it obtained the special \\\'Vinitaly 2014 Nation Award\\\' for its Murfatlar wine brand.
According to the regulation of the competition, the Special Nation Award goes to the country that has at least 10 wine producers participating in the competition, for the producer that obtains the highest score from the jury for its first most appreciated three wines.
The Special Nation Award obtained by Romania\\\'s Murfatlar wines brings major global recognition to Romania, which received this award alongside Germany and Italy.
According to the abovementioned source, the Murfatlar 3 Hectare Chardonnay wine from the 2012 collection obtained the Gold Medal (Gran Medaglia D\\\'Oro) in the white wines section.
Moreover, Murfatlar Romania obtained the Gran Menzione for the following wines from its Crama Atelier Gama: Sable Noble Sauvignon, Blanc&Chardonnay&Pinot Gris 2013, Arezan Feteasca Neagra 2011, Leat 6500 Cabernet Sauvingong&Feteasca Neagra Roze 2013, Arezan Feteasca Neagra Roze 2013.
The Viile Budureasa SRL Dealu Mare producer received three Gran Menzione distinctions for Tamaioasa Romaneasca 2013, Origini Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 and Rose 2013.

The Vinitaly competition is the most exigent of its kind in the world, offering the smallest number of medals among the international wine competitions. The wines that have the higher scores and are likely to obtain a medal are being re-checked by a commission, which in the end offers one single gold medal, one silver and one bronze medals for each category and a Gran Medaglia D\\\'Oro for each section.
Carried out in Verona over March 27-31, Vinitaly registered 3,000 wines in this year\\\'s edition and 30 participating countries representing four continents. Romania participated with more than ten wine producers.
