Romania will promote this year, too, the products obtained from organic agriculture in the world's leading fair in the area, BioFach Nuremberg 2014, where 40 producers will exhibit on a 400-square metre area all they can provide the world market in the area.

'The Agriculture Ministry and the Association of Organic Agriculture Operators, Bio Romania Association, this year, same as in 2013, are the organisers of this event, where we want to bring as many processed products. In 2014, a number of 40 Romanian producers will be present in the largest fair of organic products in the world, not only with cereals or oleaginous seeds, teas, aromatic herbs, forrest fruit, mushrooms and spices, but also with comfitures, dairy products, honey and bee products, cosmetics, bakery products and wines. We hope to enter the world market of bio processed products,' Bio Romania Association President Marian Cioceanu told Agerpres.

He pointed out that the year 2013 was a good agricultural year for the organic farmers, too, with large productions, but which went to exports.

'2013 was a good agricultural year for the organic farmers, too, with large productions, but which mainly went to exports. However, the domestic consumption of bio products also increased due to the partnership made with Carrefour retailer, through which the members of Bio Romania Association managed to promote over 70 bio products in all Carrefour hypermarkets nationwide. In this period we are also negotiating with the other large retailers present on the Romanian market to make such partnerships,' Cioceanu said.

For 2014, the Association plans to obtain the VAT reduction for organic food, as well as the financial support the organic agriculture needs, according to the new regulations in the Common Agricultural Policy and the National Programme for Rural Development 2014-2020.

BioFach is the world's leading trade fair for organic products, where in the period February 12 - 15, 2014, organic food and trade products from over 130 states will be exhibited and related conferences and events will be organised. One of the conferences has as topic 'The Danube's Strategy - a major opportunity for organic agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe.'

According to MADR, Romania in 2010 had about 3,000 operators in the organic agriculture and at the end of 2012 their number reached 26,000. The areas engaged in organic agriculture reach almost one million hectares, but the maximum potential has not even by far been reached.
