About a quarter Romanians canceled holiday plans this summer

Over three quarters of Romanians (77%) have already been or will go on holiday this year , while a quarter (23%) chose to cancel their plâns this summer, according to a study made by an online hotel booking platform. In this context, 49% of people interviewed mentioned that Romania represents now the practical and safe choice when it comes to choosing holiday destinations.

 

According to answers to Travelminit.ro questionnaire, domestic tourism was the option chosen by 88% of respondents, while almost half of Romanians have in view places accessible by car.

 

Mountain holidays, especially in Transylvania, are in the top of preferences, with 46% of options, followed by those on the Romanian littoral, with 32%.

 

The study shows that almost half of people interviewed are ready to spend between 100 and 200 lei per night for accommodation, while 28% will spend between 200 and 300 lei/night. 64% of Romanians are afraid of contamination with Covid 19 or the introduction of compulsory quarantine measures. The questionnaire shows that 43% and 34% of Romanians consider high standard pensions and hotels are the safest and 78% confirm that prevention measures are strictly observed.

 

Travelminit.ro data show that during the St. Mary weekend (August 14- 16) several tourist areas in the country reported 95% occupancy degree. Tourists preferred to pay up to 200 lei/night in mountain and littoral resorts. Bookings were last minute, without down payment or cancellation possibility.
