AVANGARDE survey: 74% of Romanians believe the country is going in the wrong direction
Almost three quarters of Romanians (74%) believe that Romania is heading in the wrong direction, 21% believe that the direction is good, and 2% cannot assess/do not answer, reveals a self-financed AVANGARDE survey made public on Saturday.
If in June 38% of respondents considered that the direction in which Romania is heading is a good one, in July the percentage dropped to 27% and the trend remained downward for August (23%) and September (21%).
The percentage of those who answered that the direction is wrong increased from June - 53%, July - 66%, August - 73% and September - 74%.
Also, the percentage of those who fell into the "cannot appreciate/do not answer" category varied: June - 9%, July - 7%, August - 4% and September - 5%.
At the same time, more than half of the interviewees (51%) say that they are rather "disappointed" with the way the current Government manages Romania, taking into account the expectations they had before January 2025, 23% rather "delighted", another 23% had no expectations and 3% "don't know/don't answer".
If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, of the 64% who indicated a party, 41% would vote for AUR, 19% - PSD, 13% - PNL, 12% - USR, 6% - UDMR, 2% - SOS Romania, 2% - POT, 1% each - Force of Right, People's Movement Party and DREPT and 2% other parties.
To the question "What is your biggest fear related to the coming period?", 28% of Romanians answered "a possible economic crisis", 26% - "escalation of the war in Ukraine", 19% - "the future of children", 12% - "health problems", 10% - "hatred in society", 2% indicated another fear and 3% chose "don't know/don't answer".
The survey was conducted nationwide between September 9 and 18, on a stratified probability sample of 1,300 subjects from the adult population (18 years and over), non-institutionalized in Romania. The margin of error, at a 95% confidence level, is +/- 2.3%.
