The uptake rate of EU funds related to the Sectoral Operational Programme Environment 2007-2013 amounted to 42.28% at end-March, with the value of expenditure statements submitted to the European Commission having stood at 1.866 billion euros, shows the data posted on the website of the Ministry of European Funds (MFE). 

As to the value of the payments brokered by the European Commission, it amounted to 1.823 billion euros, 41.32% respectively. 

The total number of submitted projects was 709, and their total value was 38.104 billion lei. As many as 530 projects worth 22.638 billion lei were approved, and 480 contracts worth 22.378 billion lei were signed. 

The Sectoral Operational Programme Environment sets the allocation strategy of the EU funds for the environment sector in Romania, from 2007 to 2013. It was approved by the European Commission on July 11, 2007.
