Transgaz signs Memorandum with DESFA
Transgaz SA, the Romanian natural gas transport operator signed on Tuesday a Memorandum with DESFA, the operator of the National Natural Gas System in Greece and of the National Natural Gas Transport System and the GNL terminal on Revithoussa island, the company announced in a press release.
The signing of the document is meant to jointly approach existing and future projects on gas transport, according to EU laws.
Representatives of the two companies discussed the need to develop and integrate gas markets on the internal EU energy market, to diversify gas supply routes and create access to new gas sources, thus improving safety in natural gas supply at regional and European levels. The two companies support solutions to increase cross border cooperation, they promote transparent access of participants in the market, to their natural gas transport networks and intend to contribute to increased safety in the natural gas supply of the Central-East European area, according to EU laws, the press release shows.
According to the source, Evangelos Tournakis, charge d affaires of the Greek Embassy in Bucharest and Ioannis Markos, in charge of economic and commercial matters at the embassy participated in the Memorandum signing event.
SNTGN Transgaz is the technical operator of the national transport system and is in charge of its functioning in conditions of quality, safety, economic efficiency and environment protection.
