Transgaz, French natural gas transmission system operator GRTgaz sign collaboration agreement

Romanian natural gas transmission operator Transgaz has signed a cooperation memorandum with its French counterpart, GRTgaz, that will help implement the European energy strategy in Romania, according to press statement from the French Embassy in Bucharest on Friday.

The collaboration agreement was signed on May 25, under the high aegis of the Embassy of France. The memorandum was signed for the Romanian side by Transgaz Board Chairman Ion Sterian and Director of the Transgaz European Funds Access and International Relations Department Ciprian Alic. On behalf of French, the memorandum was signed by GRTgaz Director General Thierry Trouve and Director for International Development Laurent Thery.

"This memorandum is concluded between two leading companies in their area, GRTgaz and Transgaz. This initiative perfectly illustrates the cooperation and the connections that can take place between our countries, through professionals and volunteers. In this case — without disclosing all the details — it is an agreement for implementing the European energy strategy in Romania," said France's Ambassador in Bucharest François Saint-Paul, who attended the memorandum signing.

GRTgaz is one Europe's leaders in the natural gas transmission area and a world expert of gas transport networks and systems.

In France, GRTgaz owns and operates 32,320 km of underground distribution network and 27 compression stations for gas transmission between suppliers and consumers. GRTgaz provides public services to secure continuity in consumers' supply and transmission services for network users.
