Transelectrica checked the stage of the overhead power line 400 kV Oradea –Bekescsabaek project
The leadership of the national energy transporter Transelectrica checked the stage of works for the finalisation of the zone of Overhead Power Line of 00 kV Oradea Sud 0 Nadab, part of LEA 400 kV Oradea – Bekescsaba, investment resumed this year after more than 12 years of blockage.
The operation of this power line has an important role in securing supply with electricity in the North-West part of the country, say the representatives of the company, and it will ensure the growth of the capacity of interconnection of the country.
The project of the overhead power line LEA 400 kV Oradea –Beckescsaba was initiated in 2006 and starting with 2008 the section Oradea Sud-Nadab was in conservation, as a result of difficulties connected to expropriation procedures.
‘The investment, which will ensure the growth of the capacity of interconnection of the country and will contribute to the completion of the 400 kV power ring of Romania, was resumed this summer after more than 12 years of blockage’ the representatives of the company say.
The project of the overhead powerline 400 kV Oradea – Bekescsaba, a total investment of over 87 million lei was partially placed into service starting with 2008, namely the double circuit part LEA 400 kV Nadab (Ro) – Bekescsaba (Hu) with a length of 60 km, out of which 22 km on the Romanian territory together with LEA 400 kV Arad – Nadab. The LEA 400 kV Oradea Sud – Nadab has a length of 72 km and is partially made to be finalised over the next months. Until now, there were made ten new foundations and started the elevation of poles.
The placing into service of the section Oradea Sud – Nadab contributes to the completion of the 400 kV power ring in the Western part, priority objective of Romania, with significant impact on the increase of safety in functioning and on the minimisation of risks in electricity supply for the users in the Northern – Western part of the country.
Similarly, as regards the operational security, the company says that LEA 400 kV Oradea –Bekescsaba has superior reliability to the present power lines, being designed on the basis of new standards, which take into consideration the impact of weather phenomena.
‘The finalisation of LEA 400 kV Oradea Sud-Nadab will increase the transfer capacity in interconnection for export by 100 MW and for import by 300 MW, which contributes to Romania’s compliance with the obligations coming from the implementation of the EU Regulations. This investment will have a significant role in achieving the objective of the EU to implement the Single European Electricity Market which has the purpose of social welfare ( reduction of electricity price at end user level by increasing competition)’, the company says.
