The price of natural gas will remain at 53.3 lei/MWh from January to June 2015

The purchase price of natural gas from domestic production for household consumers and heating producers (only for the quantities of natural gas used to produce heating in co-generation plants and in heating plants, for population's consumption) will remain at 53.3 lei/MWh from January to June 2015, according to a draft Government Decision published by the Ministry of Energy, Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Business Milieu.

The document also mentions that, according to the Programme of measures to eliminate regulated prices for natural gas, the Government will draw up, at the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) proposal, a new deregulation calendar for the period July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2021, which will take into account the downward trend in the prices of hydrocarbons and the longer period of gradual elimination of regulated prices that will be agreed upon with international financial institutions.

As to ensuring the non-discrimination between the same category of consumers, by the end of the regulation period, household consumers and heating producers will receive the same treatment in terms of securing quantities and the selling price of natural gas consumed, regardless of whether they chose to be eligible or regulated.

As of January 1, 2015, January 1, 2016 respectively, and until June 30, 2021, a specific structure of import / domestic mix will be applied for the amount of natural gas destined to household consumers and non-household ones, heating producers, only for the quantities of natural gas used to produce thermal energy in co-generation plants and in heating plants destined to population's consumption.
