The ministry of energy: US watch with interest the actions started by Romania on the line of energy independence
The United States of America watch with interest the actions started by Romania on the line of the energy independence, stated on Monday the ambassaodor of the US to Bucharest Hans Klemm, in a meeting with the minister of energy Andrei Gerea, according to a press release of the ministry of energy. ‘ While at the beginning of his mission to Romania, the ambassador Hans Klemm mentioned that the American party watches with interest the actions started by our country on the line of energy independence’ the press release shows.
The American diplomat showed that the achievements of Romania as regards the economic growth and the improvement of the business environment must be more visible on an international plan through adequate information of the potentially interested.
‘Although I know the achievement of your country in the domain of the economic growth and some progress in the sense of improvement of the business environment I appreciate that they require to be more visible on an international plan through information and adequate presentation of the potentially interested in any occasion’ Hans Klemm said.
In his turn, the minister of energy required the ambassador of the US to Bucharest to support the dissemination in this business environment in his country, of the opportunities for the existing investments in the domain of energy in Romania.
‘We appreciate that we learnt a lot from the errors of the previous period, and the measures taken, especially through the adoption of the new Fiscal Code, we created one of the most favourable moments as regards the business environment and investment of Romania. We want to ensure a business environment more predictable, with stable legislation, which could favour both entrepreneurs and beneficiaries of the investments’ said Andrei Gerea.
The Romanian minister presented the priorities in the energy domain, remembering that the main projects in the domain of the natural gas, both as regards the production and the infrastructure of transport, as well as the projects in the domain of energy (the stage of the projects for reactors 3 and 4 CNE Cernavoda, the project of the hydropower station in Tarnita, renewable energy, coal energy, etc.).At the same time, Gerea spoke about the stage of the preparation of the National Strategy in the domain of energy, announcing that the new chapters will be under public debate in the following period.
At the end of July 2015; the total volume of commercial trade in Romania and the US was 1,173 billion dollars, with 18% over the level of the similar period of 2014, both export and import recording growth by 17% and 20% respectively according to the data of the ministry of energy.
In 2014, the volume of commercial bilateral trade was 2.208 billion dollars, with 18.6% over the level of 2013. Export was 1.303 billion dollars (14th ranked in the top of Romanian goods destination with a share of 1.86%) and import 905 million dollars (19th in the top of the countries with imported goods to Romania, with a share of 1.16%).
On 31 August 2015, according to the data of the National Office for the Trade Register in Romania there were recorded 7,027 companies with US capital, with a capital invested of 1.3 billion dollars, representing 2.47% of the foreign subscribed capital, which places the US on 11th place in the top of the countries which invested in Romania.
