A new important step for the exploitation of natural gas in Neptune Deep, in the Black Sea was made on Thursday, with the signing of the ceremonial statement by Transgaz, OMV_Petrom and Romgaz regarding the signing of the contracts for transport of natural gas, announced the minister of energy, Virgil Popescu.
He said that his project was signed for the period September 2026 – September 2042.
According to a press release of Transgaz, sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange the creation of transport infrastructure which should make the connection between the natural gas available at the shore of the Black Sea and the corridor BRUA represents a project of special importance for Romania as regards the energy security, and the signing of these contracts is the main condition for the development of this infrastructure.
Starting with 27 March 2023, the site would be handed over to the winner of the tender for the execution of the pipeline construction works, which will last until April 20-25, 2023, depending on weather conditions.
The general manager of Romgaz, Razvan Popescu said that the signing of the contract is one of the necessary conditions for the implementation of offshore investments and of those concerning the development of the transport infrastructure for the gas in Neptun Deep.
Christina Verchere, CEO OMV Petrom said that Neptune Deep is a strategic project for OMV Petrom and reiterated that the final decision for investment is planned for mid-2023.

Transgaz said that the project with estimated value at present of approximately 478 million euro (with VAT) is the construction of a pipeline for gas transport Tuzla-Podisor, length 308.3 km, which will connect the resources of natural gas available at the shore of the Black Sea and the corridor BRUA, thus ensuring the possibility of transport of natural gas through existing interconnection.
This pipeline will interconnect with the present international pipeline for gas natural transport T1. The pipeline is telescopic, made up of two parts: part 1, the shore of the Black Sea – Amzacea, length 32.4 km with a technical capacity of 12 billion cubic metres/year and part II, Amzacea – Podisor, length 275.9 km, with a technical capacity of 9 billion cubic metres/year.
The project ‘ Pipeline for natural gas transport the Black Sea –Podisor’ is covered in the Development plan of Transgaz for the following ten years, is included on the list of projects of mutual interest of the EU and was presented for financing through the Fund for Modernisation.
