The European Commission closed the investigation regarding the possible set up of a cartel between Transgaz and other companies
The European Commission announced that they closed the investigation started in 2017 which regarded the possible establishment of a cartel between Transgaz and other companies in the domain of natural gas with the purpose of dividing the market, informs the natural gas transporter in a report sent to the Stock Exchange Bucharest on Tuesday.
‘The National Society for Natural Gas Transport ‘ Transgaz’ SA informs on the fact that, starting with 27.07.2021, the European Commission communicated the administrative decision to close the investigation no.AT 40483 started in 2017 for the investigation of certain aspects connected to a possible breach of the provisions of art.101 of the Treaty for the Functioning of the European Union. The investigation was initiated in June 2017, aiming at the clarification of aspects connected to the possible establishment of a cartel between SNTGN Transgaz SA and other companies in the domain of natural gas with a view to dividing the market. Even so, a short while after the initiation of the investigation, it was suspended, taking into consideration the lack of arguments/evidence to support its continuation, and, in the end it was closed in an administrative way, as the General Direction for Competition in the European Commission communicated to us today’ the report says.
According to the representatives of the company, the decision of the European Commission represents a real confirmation of the positive manner in which the activity of SNTGN Transgaz SA is appreciated by EC, as a result of the permanent communication between the two entities, both during this investigation and during investigation AT 40335 closed at the beginning of March last year by the approval of the commitments offered by SNTGN Transgaz SA.
