The contract for the construction and commissioning of the Mintia power plant has been signed
The €673.5 million contract for the construction and commissioning of the 1,750 MW Mintia combined cycle power plant has been signed between AVAX Group and Mass Group Holding (MGH), Energy Minister Virgil Popescu announced on Tuesday.
‘We keep our promises ! A new important step was taken for the construction of the power plant in Mintia! The contract for the construction and commissioning of the power plant with combined cycle of 1,750 MW was signed! The contract, worth 673.5 million euro was signed between AVAX Group and Mass Group Holding (MGH)’ Popescu wrote on his Facebook page.
The construction will last 38 months, and the investment will create almost 700 workplaces.
The new power plant in Mintia is going to be put into operation in the summer of 2026.
"The unit will run on natural gas and will comprise two SGT5-9000HL gas turbines, one SST5-5000 steam turbine and three SGen5-3000W generators from SIEMENS. At the same time, the plant components will be prepared for the transition to new hydrogen-based energy production technologies. Today we have taken a new step towards our country's energy independence," added the Energy Minister.
