The contract for privatisation of the gas transporter Vestmoldtransgaz was signed in Kishinev, Transgaz being the new owner
The privatisation contract of the gas transporter Vestmoldtransgaz of the Republic of Moldova was signed on Wednesday in Kishinev, Republic of Moldova. The National Company for the transport of natural gas Transgaz announced in February that the Agency for Public Propriety from the ministry of economy and infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova made public the fact that Eurotransgaz of Kishinev got the investment competition for the privatisation of the state-run company Vestmoldtransgaz as heritage complex.
Transgaz is the first state-run Romanian company which extends in the region.
On 28 December 2017 Eurotransgaz SRL, company set up in Kishinev with only one associate - Transgaz lodged an offer for the acquisition of Vestmoldtransgaz.
The privatisation contract of the company Vestmoldtransgaz was signed on Wednesday in Kishinev in the presence of the Romanian minister of economy Danut Andrusca and his counterpart of the Republic of Moldova Chiril Gaburici.
The signing parties of the contract are the Agency of Public Propriety of the Republic of Moldova through the deputy director Doina Cebortarean, the minister of economy and infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova through minister Chiril Gaburici and Eurotransgaz which has as only shareholder Transgaz through administrators Tudor Dutu and Cristian Rusu.
The minister of economy Danut Andrusca stated that as regards the relation with the Republic of Moldova, Romania has the policy of facts not of words, and the signing of the privatisation contract is a proof in this sense and it is a first step towards the union.
‘It is more than privatisation. It is more than a pipeline. It is more than investment. It is more than a strategic movement on the part of Romania or the Republic of Moldova. It is about union of the Romanians with the Romanians. Now, through a contract, tomorrow through a gas pipeline, the day after tomorrow through other measures and actions as concrete and as decisive as these. Romania adopts the policy of facts in relation with the Republic of Moldova.This is the expectation which they have from us the Romanian citizens and those from the Republic of Moldova ‘ stated, at the moment of the signature minister Danut Andrusca.
As regards the economic character of the signing of the contract, the minister of economy showed the factthat, starting from the moment on, Transgaz could be called a regional player in the domain of energy.
‘Transgaz confirms the place and its role in the portfolio of the minister of economy.The company is, starting today, a regional economic player. The investment will create work places, added value and will increase the energy security of both countries. This is a concrete contribution, for long term in the direction of route diversification and sources for supply with gas of the Republic of Moldova’ the minister Andrusca said.
In his turn,the general manager of Transgaz Ion Sterian said that this project is meant to increase the level and the value of interconnection between the two countries as regards the transport of natural gas infrastructure.
‘The development of the national system of transport of natural gas in the North-East part of Romania together with the gas pipeline Ungheni-Kishinev are the projects though which Transgaz functions, de factor, as a regional player. We have the competence, the capacity and the desire to achieve the strategic objectives of Romania in the sector where we operate. The financing, construction and exploitation of the interconnection Iasi-Ungheni will be made in conditions of predictability and safety’ said Ion Sterian, the general manager of Transgaz.
