The Competition Council authorized Socar Petroleum to rent six gas stations operated by Aral MTB

The Competition Council has announced on Monday that they authorized the trading through which Socar Petroleum intends to take over the right of use on six fuel distribution points operated at present by Aral MTB. ‘The six fuel distribution stations, situated in Arad, Timis, Sibiu counties will be operated by Socar on the basis of a rent contract the competition authority has informed.

Socar Petroleum, company belonging to the Azer group SOCAR operates mainly on the fuels  market, both on the retail and the engross sales and owns a network of fuel stations at national level. ‘Following the analysis, the Competition Council has noticed that this operation does not mean significant obstacles as regards effective competition on the Romanian market or a substantial part of it, and there is no doubt as regards its compatibility with a normal competition environment’ the representatives of the authority say.
