The 5th meeting of the Romanian-Turkmen Working Group on energy cooperation
Romania and Turkmenistan agreed on the possible establishment of Romanian-Turkmen joint ventures to deal with the manufacturing and maintenance of equipment required by Turkmenistan's energy industry, Secretary of State with the Ministry of Energy Bogdan Badea told the fifth meeting of the Romanian-Turkmen Working Group on energy cooperation.
"There is a particular growth and strengthening potential for Romania - Turkmenistan relations in the energy sector. Intensifying these relations is a principal goal for the near future. It is very important to note that the parties agreed on the possibility to set up Romanian - Turkmen joint ventures to deal with the manufacturing and maintenance of the equipment required by Turkmenistan's energy industry and of joint ventures specialising in energy services," Badea said.
The Romanian-Turkmen Working Group on energy cooperation held its fifth meeting between October 29 - 30, in Ashgabat; on Romania's behalf, the meeting was chaired by Secretary of state with the Ministry of Energy, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Business Environment Bogdan Badea, while Tachdurdy Begjanov, president of the "Turkmennebit" state-owned concern, chaired the meeting for the Turkmen side.
The Romanian delegation also included representatives of companies Electrica SA, Smart SA, Romgaz SA, Conpet SA, Electrica Serv SA, Ekkou. The Turkmen delegation included, alongside "Turkmennebit" president Tachdurdy Begjanov, delegates of Turkmenistan's Ministry of Energy, of the Petroleum Ministry, of state-run companies "Turkmennebit" and "Turkmengaz," of the State Agency for the Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under the President of Turkmenistan, of Turkmenistan's State Service for Maritime and River Transportation, and delegates of the refinery complex in Turkmenbashi.
During the meeting of the Working Group, the Romanian side proposed the Turkmen partners to analyze cooperation possibilities in the following areas: design, construction and installation in the energy sector; supply of equipment for the oil, gas and refinery industry, as well as for the energy sector, participating in works and the exploration and development of the oil and natural gas from Turkmenistan, participating in works of modernization, repair or reconstruction of energy objectives in Turkmenistan, or analyzing the possibility to purchase natural gas from this country.
