Statistics: Romania's electricity resources decrease 3 percent, in first ten months

Romania's electricity resources decreased 3 percent, from January to October 2012, while final consumption increased 0.2 percent, as reveal the provisional data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In the first ten months of the year, the electricity resources stood at 49.825 billion kWh, dropping 1.523 billion kWh (-3 percent) compared with the corresponding period of 2011.

At the same time, the final consumption of electricity, in the analyzed period accounted for 43.86 billion kWh, 0.2 percent higher compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.

According to the cited source, the production of thermal power accounted for 27.036 billion kWh, increasing some 584.8 million kWh (+2.2 percent), the production of hydropower plants stood at 10.521 billion kWh, declining 3.182 billion kWh (-23.2 percent), while that of nuclear power plants amounted to 9.486 billion kWh, with 231.9 million kWh less (-2.4 percent).

The production of electricity from wind power plants in the period January 1 - October 31, 2012, accounted for 2.005 billion kWh, enhancing some 1.076 billion kWh, compared with the same period last year.

The electricity exports stood at 640.6 million kWh, down by 1.658 billion kWh, namely 72.1 percent and own consumption in networks and stations increased 0.5 percent, to 5.326 billion kWh.

The INS data source concerning production is the monthly statistical survey on short-term indicators in industry (IND TS) and the monthly statistical survey on the production of electricity and heat (IND E), in accordance with the regulations of the European Council, European Parliament and European Commission on short-term statistics.

The information was collected from approximately 150 operators, involved in producing primary and transformed energy and the margin of error is + / -3 percent.
