Rovana Plumb signed a new contract financing SOP

Minister of Environment and Forests, Plumb Rovana, signed , in Resita, with   regional water operator in the county, Anatoly Free, contract financing the project "Modernization of water and wastewater in Caras Severin". The project is funded by the Sectoral Operational Programme Environment, the total amount being EUR 107,997,740, of which 89,252,991 Euro is co-financing from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union.

 

"We know that one of the major shortcomings that we face is the low percentage of households connected to the water and sewerage. Degree of connection to the water supply network is somewhere at 62% and sewerage systems for over 50%. That is why we have introduced this priority in our program of government. We had clear targets to accelerate the absorption of EU funds and rejoice that water and sewerage networks in Caras Severin will be expanded and upgraded, with these funds, "   Minister of Environment and Forests said.

 

"Not only was trying to recover absorption differences, but we have to fix and serious mistakes of past governments in this area," said Minister Rovana Plumb, who also referred to temporarily stop payments SOP following irregularities established by the Commission on contracts signed during 2010 - 2011, for projects in Bistrita-Nasaud and White counties. Ministry of Environment and Forests notified the Anti-Fraud Department where he submitted all necessary documents to analyze the situation.

 

Implementation of this project will provide water supply services and sewerage necessary for localities Resita, Caransebes Bocsa, O?elu Red Oravita Moldova Noua, Anina Herculane and reducing   pollution and rivers Danube: Timis Bârzava Cerna and Bistra, as a result of treatment of waste water effluents.

Rovana Plumb visited Moldova Noua, where she talked with the mayor, representatives of local authorities and representatives of environmental protection company   MOLDOMIN   about ponds that produce pollution in the border with Serbia.   "The problem of pollution from Moldomin is a priority for the ministry I lead. We will discuss with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment to find a short term solution to privatization to finance wetting the dumps, so that pollution stopped. Also, we seek a solution for the former mine from Ciudanovi?a "said Environment Minister   and Forests, at the end of the meeting.
