Romanian Center of Energy opens an office in Brussels

The Romanian Center of Energy (CRE), a professional organization that represents the interests of the Romanian energy sector both state-run and private, has opened on April 25, its office in Brussels, Agerpres said..

The founding members of this new Romanian organization are Electrica SA, Emon Electric SA, Energobit, Eximprod SA, Hidroelectrica SA, IMA-Partners, Nuclearelectrica SA, Retrasib Sibiu, SC Monsson Invest Group, Termoelectrica SA, Tractebel, Transelectrica SA.

In a press conference organized at the Permanent Representation of Romania to the European Union, the CRE chairman, PhD in enginnering Stelian Gal, said that CRE is to run a strategic activity in order to influence the European energy policy, to support and promote investments in the national energy system, integrated at regional and European level.

The overall objective of the CRE is to promote participation of its member institutions, of the Romanian energy companies both state-run and private in the decision-making process of the European institutions, participation in European partnerships, in funding programs of the EU institutions and to carry out lobbying activities in the interest of the Romanian energy sector institutions .

CRE, a non-profit professional association, is managed and funded by the member organizations, mainly in the electricity field now, and works to ensure the most favorable conditions for them to compete and progress in the aim to ensure development, growth and prosperity in Romania. As explained by CRE chairman, the only funding comes from members' contribution, the dues being of 10,000 euros / year per collective member.

In turn, Secretary General of the CRE, Mihai Paun, underlined that, at this stage, CRE activity is focused on the electricity sector, going to extend it in future. ''Equally, we are interested in an increase of our members' profits and to create partnerships with similar associations in other countries, present in Brussels', he said.

The specific objectives of the CRE is to promote the participation of institutions, the Romanian energy companies in the decision-taking European institutions, participation in European partnerships, in the funding programs of the EU institutions and to conduct lobbying activity in the interest of the Romanian energy sector institutions; collection, analysis and distribution of information on the energy sector; support for members in developing studies in this area, hosting and facilitating contacts between members of the CRE and international institutions and organizations in the field; studying strategic, political, technical, social, legislative and institutional issues, that are directly or indirectly related to the energy field and CRE members easier access to this kind of information.
