Romania's electricity imports up 80pct, exports fall to half January through March

Romania imported by 80pct more electricity in the first three months of 2019 against the same period of 2018, whilst its exports halved, according to the last electric power market's monitoring report carried out by the National Energy Regulation Authority (ANRE).

So, if the Jan-March 2018, imports saw 0.63 TWh, the same period of 2019 parked at 1.13 TWh. Meanwhile, exports fell from 1.83 TWh to 0.86 TWh.

The domestic consumption dropped by 2.7pct, from 15.15 TWh to 14.75 TWh. 

The competitive mode household consumers' consumption was higher by 80pct, while the regulated prices consumers consumed by 17.8pct less electricity. The economic operators' consumption dipped slightly by 1.1pct.

The domestic electric power output saw 15.45 TWh, with the hydro main source, with 26pct of the total, seconded by coal, 22pct, nuclear power, 19pct, gas, 15pct, wind power, 13pct, photovoltaic energy, 1.7pct, biomass, 0.17pct, HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil), 0.02pct.
