Romania exported  electricity almost everyday in July

Romania exported electricity almost every moment of July, as a result of the relatively low consumption as well as of the higher price in the neighbouring countries, show the data OPCOM and Transelectrica.

Thus, the biggest quantity exported was 1,164 MW on the date of 8th July at 7:00. In the rest, the exports were about hundreds of MW.

The only day which was an exception was 19th July when, for a period of several hours our country imported small quantities of electricity.

Romania is coupled at the level of spot market with Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The big and constant exports  this month are explained by an  important production of hydro energy in Romania which is the cheapest and which covered 30-40% of the total, simultaneously with a relatively low consumption against other summers, as the temperatures were not so high as to necessitate the massive use of air-conditioners.
Moreover, the price of energy in the other countries with which Romania is coupled was higher,  and the energy ‘ flows’to the areas with superior price.

On the morning of Wednesday at 10:50 the production of energy of the country was 7,932 MW, consumption was 7,406 MW and exports 526 MW.

The first was hydro energy with 36.77 % of the total, followed by coal – 21.78%,nuclear – 17.3%, hydrocarbs -11.56%, photovoltaic – 6.28%,wind- 6.10%, biomass – 0.48%.

At the same, Romania has even on Wednesday the lowest prices for energy in the region, an average of 43.4 euro/MWh against Hungary - 60.45 euro/MWh, Slovakia – 58.22 euro/MWh and the Czech Republic – 58.22 euro/MWh.
