PRIMARY ENERGY RESOURCES, up 4.5pct in H1 2018
- During 1.I.– 30.VI.2018, primary energy resources increased by 4.5%, while those of electricity decreased by 0.5% as compared to the same period of previous year.
Romania's primary energy resources grew by 4.5 percent in the first six months of 2018, to 17,045 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), while electricity prices dropped by 0.5 percent from the same period last year, reaching 33.984 billion kWh, according to data released on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The main primary energy resources during the period January 1 - June 30, 2018 totalled 17,045 million tons of oil equivalent (toe), up 739,300 toe from the same period of 2017.
Domestic production amounted to 10.427 million toe, down 98.700 toe from the same period last year, and imports stood at 6.618 million toe.
Electricity resources in H1 2018 were 33.984 billion kWh, down by 167.9 million kWh from H1 2017.
Also in the first six months of 2018, production in thermal power plants was 13.003 billion kWh, down 940,4 million kWh (-6.7 percent).
Hydroelectric power production was 9.762 billion kWh, up 1.568 billion kWh (+ 19.1 percent), and nuclear power plants reached 5.413 billion kWh, down 106.5 million kWh (-1.9 percent).
In terms of wind power production in H1 2018, it amounted to 3.627 billion kWh, down by 188.7 million kWh, and solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations during this period was 802.3 million kWh, down by 178.2 million kWh from H1 2017.
Final electricity consumption in the first half of 2018 was 27.878 billion kWh, 2.4 percent higher y-o-y; public lighting declined 3.6 percent, and household consumption declined 10.6 percent.
Electricity exports amounted to 2.962 billion kWh, down 784.7 million kWh.
Auxiliary consumption by power stations was 3.144 billion kWh, down by 41.4 million kWh.
