PRIMARY ENERGY RESOURCES DECREASED BY 0.9% DURING 1.I-31.VIII.2016
- During 1.I-31.VIII.2016, primary energy resources decreased by 0.9%, while those of electricity remained at the same level as during the corresponding period of the previous year.
The final consumption of electricity in the first eight months of this year stood at 36.51 billion KWh, up 4.3 percent from the similar period of 2015, according to a National Institute of Statistics (INS) release.
The highest increase, 5.3 percent, was recorded in the industrial sector. The population consumption went up 1.1 percent, while public lighting witnessed a 1.3 percent decline.
Moreover, the own technologic consumption in networks and stations was 6 percent lower, and exports went down 18.3 percent, to 54.92 billion KWh.
According to the INS data, the total production of electricity stood at 43.38 billion KWh, increasing by 14.6 million KWh. The statistic data show that in the first eight months production in thermal power plants went down 5.4 percent, and that of the nuclear power plant of Cernavoda dropped 4 percent. On the other hand, the production in hydro power plants increased 15.5 percent, while in the wind and photovoltaic power plants it went down 11.5 percent and 5.5 percent, respectively.
In the period January - August 2016, the primary energy resources went down 0.9 percent, and the electricity resources remained at the same level, as compared to the same period of last year.
The main primary energy resources totalled 21.63 million toe, in the first eight months of the year, down by 197,900 toe from the similar period of 2015.
At the same time, the domestic production totalled 13.49 million toe, down by 1.16 million toe from the same period of last year, while imports stood at 8.14 million toe.
