PRIMARY ENERGY RESOURCES DECREASED BY 0.6% IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2016
-In the first half of 2016, primary energy resources decreased by 0.6%, while those of electricity increased, as compared to the first half of 2015, by 3.3%.
Romania's H1 2016 final electricity consumption totalled 27.623 billion KWh, up 10.3 percent from H1 2015, while household electricity consumption was up 1.5 percent in the same interval, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) released on Thursday.
Primary energy sources, January - June 2016 were down 0.6 percent, while electricity sources were up 3.3 percent, all compared with H1 2015.
The main primary energy sources totalled 15.970 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), down 92,900 toe from the first six months of 2015, while domestic output totalled 10.157 million toe, down 830,700 toe, while imports reached 5.813 million toe.
At the same time, electricity resources in H1 2016 were 34.562 billion KWh, up 1.104 billion KWh (+3.3 percent), from H1 2015.
As far as production is concerned, INS data show that heat plants generated 12.057 billion KWh, up 10.8 million KWh (+0.1 percent), hydropower plants generated 10.764 billion KWh, up 742.6 million kWh (+7.4 percent), while nuclear power plants generated 5.231 billion KWh, down 325.3 million kWh (-5.9 percent).
At the same time, electricity generated by wind power stations in H1 2016 stood at 3.320 billion KWh, up 274.1 million KWh from H1 2015, while electricity generated by photovoltaic plants was 959.5 million KWh, up 150.7 million KWh.
The final electricity consumption stood at 27.623 billion KWh, up 10.3 percent from H1 2015; electricity for public lighting was down 1.3 percent, while household consumption was up 1.5 percent.
On the other hand, Romania's H1 2016 electricity exports totalled 3.791 billion KWh, down 1.248 billion KWh from H1 2015, while own grid and stations consumption stood at 3.147 billion KWh, down 216.4 million KWh.
