PM Ponta: Romania has a special interest in energy efficiency
Romania's Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Tuesday in Copenhagen voiced Romania's interest in energy efficiency, saying that Romania is currently ranked last in these terms, while Denmark is the leader.
At a joint conference with the Danish Prime Minister, Ponta replied in the affirmative to a question about whether Danish investors are interested in Romania, adding that he assured business people in Copenhagen that Romania became a stable and predictable country. He said the Romanian Government has strategies to convince Danish companies to invest in energy and agriculture.
'Romania has a special interest in energy efficiency. For example, Denmark and Romania are leaders in Europe in terms of energy independence, which is a very good aspect for both countries, but as far as energy efficiency is concerned, Denmark is first while Romania is last. This is where a huge difference exists and we are optimistic that some of the executives of the companies I met today will continue to invest in Romania, while others will start up new investment projects,' said Ponta.
Ponta met in Copenhagen representatives of the local business environment.
The Romanian Government announced it is contemplating launching a partnership between the two countries to intensify close cooperation in order to resume economic growth and create new jobs, an objective intensity promoted by Denmark while it was holding the rotating half-year presidency of the European Union's Council in 2012, to which Romania enthusiastically adhered.
