Photon Energy starts building 7.1-MWp solar park in Romania
Amsterdam-based solar and water solutions company Photon Energy NV (WSE:PEN) has launched the construction of a 7.1-MWp solar park in Romania as part of a wider plan to add 32 MWp of total generation capacity in the country by end-2022, https://renewablesnow.com/ reads.
The photovoltaic (PV) park will be installed on 10 ha of greenfield land near Sahateni in Buzau county. It will be Photon Energy’s seventh solar project in Romania, the Dutch developer said on Wednesday.
To be equipped with some 12,700 solar panels and single-axis trackers, the new PV park will be able to generate around 11.4 GWh of electricity per year and will be feeding it into the grid of SDEE Electrica Muntenia Nord. The output will be sold on the energy market on a merchant basis, with no power purchase agreements (PPAs) to be signed.
The solar farm is planned to begin commercial operations in the fourth quarter of 2022. After its commissioning, Photon Energy’s IPP portfolio will include 95 solar power plants totalling 120 MWp. In Romania alone, the company has 3.6 MWp of shovel-ready projects and is working on the development of a 242.8-MWp solar portfolio, seen to be realised in 2023 and 2024. Additionally, it has 28.3 MWp of projects under construction.
