Number of green certificates allotted to photovoltaic, wind power producers and micro-hydropower plants, to be reduced
The authorities will diminish the number of green certificates allotted to the producers of renewable energy in the photovoltaic sector, micro-hydropower plants and wind power plants, as these are overcompensated areas through the current support scheme, to limit the effects of granting subsidies in the invoice paid for electricity by the end-consumer, National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) Vice Chairman Emil Calota told Agerpres on Wednesday.
'There are three technologies for producing renewable energy. There are the photovoltaic technology, the one for micro-hydropower plants producing under 10 MW and the wind power. Therefore, except for the energy produced based on biomass and that on biogas, areas in which investments have not reached a very high level, in which there are not any relevant data yet, the three are overcompensated,' Emil Calota said.
The ANRE official pointed out that the measure of reducing the number of green certificates will be applied after ANRE approved the market monitoring report for 2012. The support granted to producers is supported by the final consumer, through the payment of a higher invoice for electricity.
'On Friday, I shall submit for ANRE's approval the market monitoring report for 2012. The document will show, based on some technical assessments, which technologies are overcompensated. That is where we shall reduce the number of certificates. The report will be made public starting from on April 1, 2013,' Emil Calota added.
