Ministry of European Funds is taking over RO-05 Energy Efficiency programme from the Economy Ministry
The Government on Tuesday approved the Ministry of European Funds taking over as programme operator for RO-05 Energy Efficiency programme from the Economy Ministry following the memorandum of understanding related to the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 being amended and supplemented, which latest form came into force on April 20, 2016.
The Government say in a press statement that the amendments and supplements to the memorandum signed between Romania and the donor states require the need for the new programme operator assuring the 15-percent co-funding contribution.
The transfer of powers between the two ministries was approved under an emergency ordinance, given that the absence of such measures would have meant the absence of a national legal base for the request of the Finance Ministry and the payment by it of co-funding amounts for the implementation of the RO 05 programme and to avoid blockages in the implementation of projects under this programme.
"The Ministry of European Funds is already a designated programme operator for environmental monitoring and planning and integrated control and energy efficiency under the EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 as well as strengthening organisational capacities and cooperation among Romanian and Norwegian public organisations, local and regional administrations under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014," the Government says.
