Mihalache: The energy can bring a new quality level to the Romanian-US strategic partnership
The head of Romania's Presidential Chancellery, Dan Mihalache, had a meeting with Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs leading the Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) at the U.S. Department of State Amos J Hochstein, where he showed that energy can bring a new quality level to the Romanian-US strategic partnership, Romania's Embassy to the USA reports in a press statement released on Wednesday.
"This also involves a transfer of technology, infrastructure, energy security and storage capacities. Romania can be a hub for scientific expertise and research in collaboration with US universities," Mihalache is quoted as saying in the statement.
During the meeting, the officials also talked about Central and Eastern Europe's energy independence, infrastructure interconnection and investments in the area.
Also attending the meeting, Romanian ambassador to the US George Cristian Maior showed that the energy area is acquiring increasingly more substance. He pleaded for strengthening Romanian-US cooperation in the energy area, including form the perspective of the strategic partnership.
"In the same respect, Amos Hochstein mentioned that the US and Romania share common goals and perspectives in regards to the European energy security and underscored the excellent cooperation in the energy area between the two countries, following the implementation of their Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership," the statement adds.
