MAE and Economy Ministry welcome Nabucco West selection as route to carry gas to Europe
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) and the Ministry of Economy welcome the announcement referring to the Nabucco West project being selected as route to carry natural gas to Central and South-Eastern Europe.
'The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and the Business Environment welcome, on behalf of Romania's Government, the recent announcement made by the Shah Deniz II Consortium referring to the decision to select the Nabucco West project as a route to carry natural gas to the region of Central and South-Eastern Europe,' reads a release MAE sent to Agerpres on Thursday.
The two ministries emphasize the fact that this decision 'is an essential step to carrying out the Nabucco project, but also to opening the Southern Corridor, which is a priority for Romania and the EU, with a view to ensuring the energy security.'
'This decision is also a confirmation, by the Shah Deniz II Consortium, of the competitive advantages the Nabucco project has when compared to other regional initiatives, including the prospect of the top political support from the partner states, which materialized in a unitary and coherent legal framework,' informs the above-mentioned source.
Moreover, the release shows that Romania will go on supporting the Nabucco project and getting actively involved in its promotion, as it is firmly convinced that it is an advantageous solution giving long-term answers, with benefits to all the factors of the energy formula in the region: suppliers, states to transit and consumers.
