Havrilet (ANRE): We will suggest IMF early gas market liberalization
ANRE will suggest IMF an early gas market liberalization for household consumers, considering that international prices dropped a lot, said Nicolae Havrilet, the ANRE president at the Energy Business Summit.
“We will analyse with IMF and the World Bank the stage of gas market liberalization and we will suggest an early liberalization, considering that gas prices for household consumers in international markets and the domestic exchange is lower than the one foreseen by us,” Havrilet said.
In the fall of 2015, the ANRE president estimated a drop of natural gas production price by 10% until July 1, 2016. At the same time the liberalization calendar foresees an increase by 6 lei per MWh of has prices paid by household consumers as of this summer.
At present, the purchase price of natural gas of internal production for household consumers and for thermo-power plants which deliver thermal agent to household consumers is 60 lei MWh.
An IMF mission headed by the Reza Baqir is paying a visit in Romania over March 2-15, 2016 for the annual evaluation of Romanian economy, according to a press release made by Guillermo Tolosa, the regional IMF representative for Romania and Bulgaria.
Periodical consultations stipulated by article IV of IMF Statute is a supervision exercise compulsory for all member states. The aim of consultations based on article IV is the examination of the financial and economic situation at national level and the formulation of general recommendations referring to monetary policies, financial and economic policies to follow to insure stability and a positive economic evolution.
At present Romania does not have an on-going accord with the International Monetary Fund.
