Germany funds with 3.9 million euro a windpower park in Romania
The ministry of environment of Germany will contribute with up to 3.9 million euro for the financing of a wind power project close to Tomnatic, Bihor county as part of the efforts to protect the environment by the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
The project includes the construction of four wind turbines of 2.5 MW which will generate electricity for almost 7,000 residences and will contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 19,000 tons, a press release of the German Ministry of the Environment shows.
The German funding of the project in Tomnatic, of the Padurea Craiului Mountains takes place as a result of an agreement signed on 12 June by the federal minister of environment Barbara Hendricks and her Romanian counterpart Attila Korodi.
On Thursday the agreement for the financing was signed with the investor, so that the implementation of the project may start, according to the press release, which mentions that wind power projects in Romania have been concentrated close to the Black Sea coast, as this is the first time wind power turbines will be used inside the country.
According to the site of the Bihor County council, the SC Wind KontorSRL of Arad got in April 2013 the construction authorisation for the mounting of four wind turbines in Tomnatic.
